How can I become a member?
After you have completed 3 full semesters at UT and maintained a cumulative and Science BCPM (biology, chemistry, physics, and math) GPA of 3.20, you can apply to become a member. Applications are under the membership tab.
Please complete the application before December 15th, 2019.
If you intend to apply for membership this Fall and are not already a pledge, please submit your pledge application by September 29th, 2019.
How is my BCPM calculated?
We calculate your BCPM GPA based on the AMCAS standards. Click here for AMCAS calculations.
What is the AED attendance policy?
Pledges are expected to accrue 6 attendance credits per semester, and members are required to accrue 6 attendance credits per semester. The amount of credits that an event is worth will be noted in emails and on the calendar. Pledges wanting to become full members must meet the attendance requirement. Click here for full info.
What's the difference between a pledge and an interest?
Unlike interests, pledges are invited to go on medical school trips, attend AED National Convention, and wear our AED UTK T-shirts. Pledges are also given priority over interests for high-interest events with limited space. You cannot apply for full membership without first becoming a pledge.
What is the difference between being a member and a pledge?
Members reap the full benefits of AED National Membership. Members can vote in officer elections, run for officer positions, wear AED regalia at graduation, apply for AED National Scholarships, and are given the highest priority for any events.
How do I pay my pledge or membership dues?
Pledge and full membership dues should be paid by check or money order (we do NOT accept cash) made out to Alpha Epsilon Delta.
Dues should be submitted in Ayres Hall 313.
What do I do about attendance if I am studying abroad?
Speak with the AED president and faculty advisor before you leave, so that we can excuse you from the attendance requirement for that semester.
